More Thoughts for the day...the week...the month...year....LIFE

PUSH
Pray

Sometimes we are so
caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we
forget what's right and wrong.

'Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.'

A sharp tongue can cut your own throat.

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

The heaviest thing you can carry is a grudge...

One thing you can give and still keep...is your word.

You lie the loudest when you lie to yourself.

The 10 commandments are not a multiple choice.

It is never too late to become what you might have been.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.. So love
the people who treat you right.. Forget about the
ones who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If
it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life
would be easy, they just promised it would be
worth it.

My Thought for Today.........

That which doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger......

The Weekend is HERE!

The weekend is finally here-yay! It is Saturday morning, it's almost 8 a.m. I am am sitting at my desk here at home having my morning coffee & cigarette. It is blissfully quiet here & I can't remember the last time I got to sleep this late. Why you ask? Because David left last night on a "secret" camping trip with a bunch of guys from his work & Marshall. That's right. They've headed deep into the woods in Madison County to spend a "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" weekend hunting & camping & being boys! He came straight home from work & we quickly packed him & Miss Boogie up & he headed to Decatur to get Marshall & off they went. We packed so fast I just knew he forgot something - I didn't figure out what that something was til about 10:00 last night when I went to bed - it was his pillow & sleeping bag or at least a comforter! Oops! Hopefully Marshall had an extra in his camper!
What am I going to do with all this time to myself?? ;-) me

Ducks Unlimited

Last night David & I attended the Ducks Unlimited Banquet in Fayetteville. Let me just say from the get go that I didn't have high hopes for it being anything but a long drawn out conference type thing where speakers got up & talked about all the ways our money could help duck conservation. Boy was I ever wrong! We had the best night out we've had in a long time! We had SO much fun! There were no "speakers"...when we got to the door to buy our ticket, there was a man selling coozies - buy a coozie, free drinks all night! (Needless to say I made sure David jumped right on that for us!) They had a silent auction, a real live auction, TONS of raffle give aways - which unfortunately we didn't win anything! They served us an amazing dinner. David & I walked around, hung out together, looked at EVERYTHING (Ducks Unlimited Prints, duck calls, lots of duck guns, and a variety of other things). We met a young marine who was just in town for a few days, he was such a nice young man, David invited him to come down to the farm for a weekend hunt! Eric (Eddy & David's friend) was a volunteer there. I even saw one of my long lost cousins from my mamma's side of the family! We drank WAY too much, laughed even more, spent more money than I care to admit & had an AMAZING time! We didn't get home until 10:30 (which is at least 2 hours after our bedtime - ha!). And the best part? The VERY VERY VERY BEST part????? I won a HUGE DU framed print of Labs in the silent auction! I stalked our auction sheet the first half of the night, making sure anytime anyone put their name under my bid, I was right there bumping up the bid! I'm not sure what happened, I turned into some kind of crazy woman I wanted that picture SO bad! (I tend to do that where auctions are involved, just ask anyone that's ever watched me in a live bidding auction!) But in the end, I won! And I have just the place for that picture. Right above our fireplace in the living room, the focal point when you walk in. I'm proud of this one, and I want everybody to know it! me

Update:

It's finally the weekend! Thank you Lord! We had a pretty crazy week. David & I both were sick, so we finally went to see Kevin (our doctor). Both of us got shots of antibiotics, and a script for antibiotics & cough medicine. Are we better you ask? Honestly? I don't think so.
We got up early this morning & hit a few garage sales, then ran some errands & came home. We have company coming to watch the Razorbacks play at six tonight, plus Hunter man is spending the night! I wanted to take him to the pumpkin patch this afternoon, but he's not here yet & David is feeling pretty rough so he's taking a power nap. I've got the house mostly cleaned, made a cake, getting ready to go put a veggie tray together & we're just gonna order pizza instead of doing a lot of cooking & stuff. But I will need to make the rotel before too long!
At work I hit my 30 Monday. Actually made it to 32.5 before the contest cut off Thursday afternoon. I wish I'd done more, but I'm the only one that made it for themselves & their spouse - so I'm not gonna complain about that! Anyway it's Cancun in December! I just hope we make it down there & back before Davin is born!
We're going to a Ducks Unlimited banquet in Fayetteville Tuesday night. I'm pretty excited about that. I've never been to one & can't wait to see what it's all about. Next weekend David is going on a guys camping trip with a bunch of men from his work. So I'll have to figure out what to do with myself for a couple of days.
Well, I've got stuff to do, sorry this is so short - but I wanted to catch up a little before it all gets away from me! Til next time....me

Quoting David's Facebook post on our weekend...

"Boogie took 2nd place in the Duck Dog Challenge yesterday at Mack's Prairie Wings, with a run of 23.1 seconds on 150 yard double retrieve. She even beat last weekends winning run of 23.9 seconds. The closest dog to us all day was 25.2 seconds. We sure thought we had it won, all day long we were the time to beat. Until when a very UNTRAINED dog was at the line and then the remote bumper launcher fired a misfire, causing the bumper to only launch about 5 yards from the launcher. This made the distance of the 2nd retrieve a lot shorter. NO FOUL WAS CALLED!!! Then the guy sent his dog and he beat us with 21.9 seconds on a VERY SLOPPY retrieve. Everyone protested this run to the Avery judges, including me. The judges said this could have happened to any trainer running his dog and since the launcher fired it was a legal run. Needless to say I was very unhappy about it.

Then after saying my personal favorite saying, "COOL HEADS WILL PREVAIL" about ten to twenty times to myself, I come to the conclusion that maybe this guy needed the $500 Avery Gear for winning first a lot worse than I did. So, I'm OK with that. And Congrats to him."

And THAT about sums up the competition this year! Except he forgot to mention MY dog Bam...who did amazingly well, but didn't place. I had to keep telling him 2nd place out of SO many dogs is nothing to be ashamed of. Anyway...there are more pictures to come....and a much more detailed account of our weekend too I'm sure! But til next time.....me
